External Release Notes: Storage Sync ver 13.5 (April 09, 2025)
New Features And Enhancements
Checkbox for Allowing Trusted Domains
There is now an option in the UI for Storage Sync AD users to authenticate across Trusted domains. This setting is enabled by default.
Debian OS 11 Upgrade for Storage Sync Guest OS
The Guest OS of the Storage Sync device will be upgraded from Debian 10.x to 11.9 in this release, providing enhanced security fixes.
Deployment of the Debian 11 will happen in multiple batches and phases.
User Filtering UI Modifications
The Save button on the User filtering page under User settings has been modified. It will be enabled only when the end user switches from one mode to another, such as Active Directory mode to Egnyte Authentication mode and vice-versa.
When a user first selects Egnyte authentication, the Save button is enabled. However, if the user navigates away and returns to the User filtering page, the Save button is disabled, showing a tooltip indicating You are currently using Egnyte Authentication mode.
Updated UI Packages
A few of the UI JS library packages which had security vulnerabilities are updated in this release.
Issues Addressed
Server Sync Failure
A customer reported a server sync failure issue where the users were connected but the sync was not running. The issue was observed after there was an increase in the user’s file operations.
Intermittent SMB Panic
After upgrading to version 13.x, the customer's Storage Sync device encountered a problem where users working on SMB shares were abruptly disconnected multiple times a day, but it does not require the Admin to restart the device. The clients will get auto-reconnected.
Retaining Changes Made to Private Folder Selection
When the admin selected private folders for syncing, the folders were successfully synced. However, the folder selection checkbox did not remain persistent upon revisiting the folder selection settings.
Folder De-selection Followed by Sync Issue
Addressed an issue that occurred when a folder was either de-selected or a new one was selected from the /Shared folder hierarchy in the sync settings. If a delete action was performed in the Cloud under any of the previously selected folders simultaneously, it would trigger the folder selection to revert back.
