Configure Cloud Start Path on Desktop App Core

The Cloud Start Path (CSP) is a feature that defines the root folder from which the folder hierarchy begins for user access. This allows administrators or users to restrict access to a specific folder and its subfolders, providing a more streamlined and secure way to work with Egnyte. This article guides users through the process of setting up a Cloud Start Path when adding an Egnyte drive in the Desktop App.

Configuring via User Interface

  1. Launch the Egnyte Desktop App and click on the Settings button.

Configuring via CLI

Custom Cloud Start Path can be added via Command Line Interface and only during the drive addition step.

egcli drives add <drive_label> --domain <domain>.egnyte.com --username <egnyte_user> --password <egnyte_password> --cloudStartPath /Shared/Documents

After the drive has been added, the Cloud Start Path cannot be modified. The drive will need to be removed and re-added with the different cloud path.
