External Release Notes:  Android Mobile App v. 8.56 (November 25, 2024)

New Features And Enhancements

Google Documents Coediting

Egnyte Android app users can now co-edit Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly on their mobile devices. When Google Workspace integration is enabled by the Egnyte domain admin, a Co-edit button will appear in the Egnyte mobile app in the file preview or context menu for compatible files. Selecting Co-edit opens the document in the corresponding Google app, enabling collaborative editing. Access requires being logged into the Google app with Egnyte credentials.

This integration will be rolled out gradually. It may take several weeks to become available across all customer domains.

Issues Addressed

Microsoft Office Mobile 365 co-editing issue

When a user initiated co-editing on their mobile device, other participants attempting to join the session encountered a ‘file locked’ message and were restricted to view-only mode. This update ensures that users can now seamlessly participate in co-editing sessions across both desktop and mobile platforms, without encountering file locking issues.

To ensure seamless coediting of Microsoft Office files on Egnyte mobile apps:
- Upgrade the mobile Android app to version 8.56 on all the devices.
- Enable the Microsoft Office Desktop and Mobile tile in the Egnyte Apps & Integrations page.
