Egnyte now offers a file comparison feature, allowing users to compare a file with its previous versions or with a different file altogether. This functionality highlights the differences between the two documents, making it easier for users to track changes, ensure accuracy, and maintain consistency across document versions.
The feature is available with Egnyte’s PDF File Handler Add-On. Contact your Sales Rep or Egnyte Sales team for more details.
To carry out file comparison, Open the file in preview and select the Compare document option.
The user will get the option to select a document for comparison. If the file has earlier versions, a list of the previous versions will appear to choose from.
To compare with a different file, switch off the toggle Choose a different version of the primary document and select a different file. Click Compare to generate the comparison.
The comparison will show the two documents side-by-side with an additional panel that shows the list of differences between the documents. Clicking on a difference in the panel will automatically scroll the documents to show where the difference was detected. This allows the user to quickly navigate the document focusing on the differences.
There are 3 toggles while comparing the document:
- Sync zoom and scroll behavior: If enabled, syncs zoom and scroll of both documents together
- Show differences: If enabled, it will highlight differences between the two documents
- View list of differences: If enabled, shows differences in panel at the right.
