CMMC 2.0 Overview
CMMC 2.0 is part of an ongoing initiative to secure the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) supply chain and the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). In particular, CMMC was created to protect DIB contractors from potential cybersecurity threats. The term “DIB” refers to the global industrial complex that enables research and development, design, production, delivery, and maintenance of military defense systems (including components or parts) to meet U.S. military requirements.
CMMC 2.0 applies to ALL DoD contractors and subcontractors, and it’s anticipated to go into effect in October 2025. Detailed CMMC requirements and a current CMMC 2.0 timeline are available in Egnyte’s CMMC guide.
