Opening Files/Folders in Egnyte Desktop App from Web UI (Limited Availability)

This limited availability release introduces an option to open files or folders directly in the Egnyte Desktop App from the web UI. This feature aims to enhance the link-opening experience within the platform.

The minimum device requirements for the feature to work are:

  • Egnyte Desktop App 3.16 or higher for Windows
  • Egnyte Desktop App Core 0.10.3 or higher for MacOS

Issues Addressed

Issue in Managing Link Access for a Single User

A problem occurred in managing link access for specific recipients. Revoking access for one of the recipients in the link created for multiple recipients led to access being revoked for all others as well. This issue has been resolved.

Issue in Pasting Email Addresses in Upload Link Feature

Users encountered a problem while pasting the copied e-mail addresses in the Email Addresses text box while creating an upload link. This issue is now resolved.

Issue in Removing Attribute Entries from Metadata

An error message appears while removing the attribute entries from Metadata. This issue is now resolved.

Issue in Number of Notifications for a Shared External Link

Users received excessive notifications when the shared links were accessed. The issue was experienced with folder links to folders that contained video files. The issue is now resolved.

Issue in Logging in to the Domain after Deactivating the only Administrator Account

An issue occurred in logging into the domain via the Reseller Dashboard after deactivating the only Admin account. The issue is now resolved.

Issue in Preserving Extensions Added under Cache Warming Configuration

An issue occurred in preserving the file extensions added to the folder under the cache warming configuration. The issue is now resolved.

 

Additional Information and Resources

The current release contains a few improvements to existing functionality.

  • Minor performance, security, and stability improvements
  • Minor UI improvements
  • Minor bug fixes

These changes will be available to all users by March 21, 2024.
