How do I stop and start the Storage Sync service?

If you love Storage Sync, try Smart Cache, Egnyte's next-gen hybrid technology. Egnyte has been investing heavily in Smart Cache -- it combines the performance and scalability of Storage Sync with intelligent caching technology, single drive letter, global file locking, and much more. Learn more here. Egnyte will End of Support Netgear on September 30th, 2021.

Before Restarting Services

The Storage Sync UI may occasionally appear to be inactive (i.e. when the status shows "Fetching cloud snapshot"). Storage Sync is actually still syncing but the status update to the UI may be delayed. In these scenarios, please wait for the sync to finish. Restarting at this point will delay sync completion.

This issue will be addressed in an upcoming release.

The following SSH commands will allow you to stop and start the Egnyte service without having to power off the Virtual Appliance.

  • To stop the services:
# systemctl stop egnyte
  • To start the services:
# systemctl start egnyte
