The ability to collaborate with co-workers is the main driver of innovation, creativity, and productivity in today’s business environment. With Egnyte’s Microsoft 365 for the Web Integration, the user can easily collaborate with the co-authoring capabilities of Microsoft 365 applications, which allow multiple users to work concurrently on the same document.
Prerequisites
- Egnyte for Microsoft 365 for the Web app should be is added to the your Egnyte account.
- Any of the following browsers should be used to co-edit a file in Egnyte using Microsoft Microsoft 365 for the Web integration:
- Windows 10 & 11: The new Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome
- MacOS: The new Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari (version 16 or newer), or Chrome
- Linux: Microsoft 365 for the web works in the new Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Chrome on Linux, but some features may not be available
Co-Edit a File
- Select the Microsoft 365 document.
- Click the option to Edit it in Microsoft 365 for the Web.
The document will then open in the appropriate Microsoft 365 for the web app (in the example below - Word for the Web). When additional users open the same document, they will be able to edit and collaborate in real-time. Even if a file is locked via co-editing, other users who open it in Microsoft 365 for the web will simply join the same active co-authoring session.
