With Egnyte’s Office Online Integration, the user can easily collaborate with the co-authoring capabilities of Microsoft Office applications, which allow multiple users to work concurrently on the same document.
Prerequisites
- Egnyte for Microsoft Office Online app should be is added to the your Egnyte account.

Any of the following browsers should be used to co-edit a file in Egnyte using Microsoft Office Online integration:
- Windows 10 & 11: The new Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome
- MacOS: The new Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari (version 16 or newer), or Chrome
- Linux: Microsoft 365 for the web works in the new Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Chrome on Linux, but some features may not be available
Co-Edit a File
- Select the Office document
- Click the option to edit it in Office Online under Open with...
The document will then open in the appropriate Office Online app (in the example below - Word Online). When additional users open the same document, they will be able to edit and collaborate in real-time. Even if a file is locked via co-editing, other users who open it in Office Online will simply join the same active co-authoring session.
