Users will delete something important and will need to dig through the trash to restore it. Egnyte offers quick filters and other filter options to search for the specific items.
The following quick filters are available in Trash:
- All - This is the default selection and shows all the items in Trash
- Deleted by Egnyte - Items automatically deleted due to system action
- Deleted by users - Items deleted by the user themselves
Quick Filters are available only for Admins, and Power Users with the capabilities to manage trash.
Users can click on More filters, select the desired filter(s), and click on Apply. Egnyte’s trash filter tool lets the users filter with the following fields.
- Type: Files and/or folders
- Item name: File or folder name
- Original location: Manually enter a folder path or browse to a specific folder or sub-folder from which a file or sub-folder has been deleted (if the folder still exists).
- Deleted by: User ID or first and last name
-
Deleted date: Last 180 Days (default selection), today, yesterday, last 7 days, last 30 days, or a custom date range
The results will be displayed to the maximum number of days set in Trash Purge settings.
For Power Users
Power Users can manage trash for files they have deleted in the Web UI.
For Admins
- Admins can manage trash for the entire domain
- If an admin deletes a user and then restores their Private folder from the trash, they will find its contents in a new Shared folder located at “/Shared/Files from deleted users/”
- To modify the ability for Power Users to manage trash, go to the Configuration tab in Settings, scroll down to the Trash and Version Policies section, and change the Users can view and restore items they have deleted in trash option.
Sort Items
Items in Trash are automatically sorted by Date deleted, with the most recently deleted files shown first.
Users can sort the items using the sort option next to each field. Sorting options are not available when the Trash contains more than 50,000 items. A tooltip is available to ensure users are clearly informed in such cases.
