Accessing Migration App

Any Egnyte admin seeking to gain access to Migration App for their domain.

Context

Migration App is in full GA (General Availability) for all domains managed by a Managed Services Provider (MSP). For other domains, Migration App remains in LA (Limited Availability.) This article explains how to gain access to Migration App for both types of customers.

What is Migration App?

Migration App allows domain admins to easily migrate data from On-Premises sources to Egnyte. You simply need to be able to access the source data via a Windows server (physical or virtual) on a single Active Directory network, and map it to a network drive. 

How Do I Know if my Domain Already has Access?

For any domain that already has access to Migration App, domain admins will see a version of the Migration Landing Page with two blue buttons for On-Prem Migration. Clicking either button takes you to the Migration Dashboard.

If you can see these buttons, then you have access to Migration App.

I’m an Admin on an MSP-Managed Egnyte Domain. How Do I access Migration App?

Any Admin of an MSP-managed domain may access Migration App by logging into their domain and clicking on the App Picker menu (the waffle icon.)

Click on this and then select Migration.

This will take you to the Migration Landing Page.

For domains that have not yet been granted access to Migration App, the Landing Page looks much the same, but instead of the blue buttons, there is a single button to Request Enablement for My Domain.

Below is the Landing Page view before having access to Migration App:

Click Request Enablement for My Domain to launch the wizard.

You must respond to every question before you can click Next. 

Clicking Next opens the second page of the wizard.

You must respond to every question before you can click Submit. Next, several things happen:

1. A confirmation dialog box will display with a link to the Migration Dashboard. 
2. You will also receive a confirmation email with all the information provided in the wizard, including links to the documentation and the Terms of Use.
3. From this point forward, any Admin for your domain who accesses the Migration Landing Page will now see the blue On-Premises Migration buttons displayed.

I’m an Admin on a Standard (Non-MSP-Managed) Egnyte Domain. How Do I Access Migration App?

Other domains can still gain access to Migration App by submitting a request here. 

This process is still manual, so allow 1-2 days for us to process your request. Once enabled, we’ll send you some onboarding information. Then when you click on Migration from the App Picker menu, you’ll arrive on the Migration Landing Page and see the blue On-Prem Migration buttons. These take you to the Migration Dashboard.
