Controlled Docs API
This new Controlled Docs API enables you to import documents and training assignment records into Egnyte’s Controlled Document Management app. This feature will assist in the migration of documents and training records when transitioning to Egnyte’s Controlled Document Management app from any other system.
The Controlled Docs API includes the following two functionalities:
- Import a document
- This endpoint allows you to import a new document or a new version of an existing document in the Controlled Document Management app
- Import a training record
- This endpoint allows you to import training assignments records into the Controlled Document Management app.

Document Version Management Settings
The system now allows the Controlled Document Management app admins and Egnyte Domain admin users to select the document versioning option. You can now choose from the following two options to manage your document versioning preferences for your domain.
- System-Generated
- Manual
When the "System-Generated" option is selected, the system will automatically generate the next consecutive document version for both minor and major versions. For new documents, the system will automatically use version 1.0. For new versions of existing documents, you can choose from system-generated minor or major versions.
When the "Manual" option is selected, the system will allow you to manually enter unique version numbers for your documents.
The selected versioning settings will apply when making a new document effective or creating a new version of an existing document effective. Regardless of which option is selected, the system will always use manual versioning for importing the documents using the Document Import feature.
Responsible Department Added on Documents Page
You can now view Responsible Department information for each document on the Documents page. This feature helps you to quickly identify the department responsible for the document without having to preview each document individually. The CSV export of document listing will also include the Responsible Department information.
Increased Number of Groups for Categories
The system now allows the Controlled Document Management app admins and Egnyte Domain admin users to assign up to 15 groups to both Category Managers and Category Viewers roles per each category. This update provides more flexibility in managing user roles within categories.
Reason for Obsolete in Document Preview
You can now view Reason for Obsolete in the file information section while previewing obsolete status documents.
