Open File Preview in Separate Tab
The file preview can now be opened in another tab from the folder listing view by holding down the control or command key while clicking on the filename or folder. This allows users to leave the folder listing open and simultaneously open multiple previews in multiple tabs for quick perusal.
Project Folder API
The public API has been enhanced to include Project Folder operations. The new Project Folder API can be used to create, modify, clean up, and delete project folders. For more information, please visit https://developers.egnyte.com/docs/Project_Folder_API.
Snapshot-based Ransomware Recovery - Links and Permissions
With the existing feature of Snapshot-Based Ransomware Recovery, the domain administrators can restore the ransomware impacted files and folders from one of the available snapshots, but not links and permissions.
The feature has now been enhanced to include restoration of associated links and permissions, thus eliminating the laborious manual effort of creating the links and setting up the right permissions. The users will get the added value without any change in the overall UI.
The link and permissions recovery is only available if the user chooses the 'Move all the existing files to a different location before restoring them to the same location.' In this case, the ransomware files with cryptic names are moved, and the original files and folders are copied from the snapshot to their original paths. As part of this restore, the links and permissions are also restored. On the other hand, if the user chooses 'Restore files to the same location,' the files are copied to their original paths, and any existing links & permissions are left untouched.
Please note:
- Snapshot-Based Ransomware Recovery is available only with the Platform Enterprise plan, GxP with governance, and the AEC package.
- This enhancement is hidden behind a feature flag and not generally available yet.
- The snapshots of the domain’s data are taken automatically every four hours and are kept for two weeks.
