Apple has announced the new M1 chip on Nov 10, 2020, and started shipping new Mac devices powered by the new chip. M1 is Apple’s first ARM-based chip designed specifically for the Mac.
Egnyte Desktop App for Apple devices with the M1 chip
Current versions of the Desktop App for Mac (versions 3.9.1 and earlier) is not compatible with Apple Mac devices powered by an M1 chip due to change in kernel extension.
We are currently certifying our applications against the macOS Big Sur in Apple M1 devices. Earlier beta versions of Big Sur included critical bugs that delayed our development and testing in Apple M1 devices.
We are targeting a January 2021 release of Desktop App 3.10.0 for Mac, with full support for Apple Mac devices powered by M1 chip.
For users who use new Apple devices with the M1 chip, we recommend using the Egnyte web interface to access and edit files until a compatible version of the Desktop App is available.
