Admin and Power Users can use a file link to quickly share one or more files with someone. Sharing a link is easier than emailing an attachment, because you don't have to worry about the low file-size limits that many email systems impose. You can also copy a file link and post it in social media, embed it in a document, or display it on a webpage.
When you share a file link from Egnyte, the recipient will receive an email that contains a URL. Clicking this URL will download the file. The person with whom you are sharing the file does NOT need to be an Egnyte user.
Start by hovering over a file and selecting the blue "Share" button to the right.
When the dialog opens, you’ll see a summary of the security and expiration options available. You’ll also be given the option to either copy (Get Link) or email the link.
If you click “Get Link”, the screen will change to show a link URL already selected. Just click Copy link and paste it into the medium of your choice. Choose “Email Link”, and you will be prompted to enter your recipient’s email address. Click "Send" when you're ready to share your link.
To adjust your link's settings prior to sharing it, click "Change link options". Click here if you'd like to learn more about link security.
